Workers Day

The first of may is definitely a day to experience CPH. Thousands of danes ( 60.000 or so...) are hanging around in Fælledparken, the green oasis at the opposite site of the football stadium Parken in Østerbro, enjoying themselves and lots of beer. While drinking beer and listening to loud music from their ghettoblasterbikes (christiana-type bikes modified with ghettoblasters), the different parties send someone to the big stage, where rather psychedelic music is played in the meantime, for talking about the political aspects of being a worker. If you are at the right place in denmark (this happening is occuring in a few selected places in denmark), you will even hear a live-speech of the prime minister.
To make it attractive, also for people with not much political interests and foreigners, some entertainment tents are built up - like thai food, pommes, churros, peas- and strawberry-seller and small other children attractions. And of course lots of beer places. All the shops in the close surrounding of the parc are heaving beer on offer as well. Definitely a day to learn, how to enjoy a carlsberg.
All in all its just an occasion to hang around in a (full) parc, listening to some (psychedelic) music and drink a beer together with your friends on a hopefully sunny day. Why not? I like it.

Here a few impressions:

Ouh, i forgot to mention the beer-can-collecting industry, which is having one of its high-points at that day:

City Brunch at Cafe Klimt

Yesterday we went for Brunch (served from 10a.m.-4p.m!) at Cafe Klimt. Lying next to the Lakes and right next to Torvehallerne its perfect for a great start in the city centre of Copenhagen. You can order a "Tapas"-Brunch, where you can choose three small dishes (fruits, fries, pancakes, bruschetta...) in addition to bread, marmelade and a great lemonade or a Megabrunch. Nice place to visit for tourists (I read the first time about it in my Marco Polo travelguide and drove by it sooo many times with the bike...) as well as for people living in Cph at any time of the day for reasonable prices.
See more at cafeklimt.dk - It went high on the list of my favorite Cafes and Brunchplaces! :)

Annika

I am Annika, a 25-year old student living, studying and working in Germany. On my way to become a scientist I went on a stay in beautiful Copenhagen to improve my scientific work skills and meet other scientists, like Kristian. After experiencing Copenhagen and Denmark during those three months in the summer 2012, living surrounded by lots of water, beautiful nature and the happiest people in the world, I continued visiting (and experiencing) Copenhagen regularly (by having of course also other motivational reasons…;)).
Since then I have experienced so many unique moments, amazing nordic food and fantastic nature, so that it became necessary to find a way to collect all those memories and trip advices. And because the internet never forgets (…and those are things, that I definitely never want to forget!) it seems like a well-suited opportunity to collect our memories and findings in form of a blog and share them with other interested people. Besides it’s a perfect way to finally use all the photos I take and remember myself of all the great places…;).
We love to see nice nature, find special food, test out new restaurants and cafes, have amazing dinners and cakes and of course also to find and drink the nicest wines – not only in Copenhagen and Denmark. See yourself!
